Today Chichester's recently re-elected MP, Gillian Keegan swore her Oath of Allegiance in Parliament.
Members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords take an oath of allegiance to the Crown. This is called swearing in. If they object to swearing the oath, they can make a solemn affirmation. They do this before taking their seats in Parliament.
Gillian posted on social media saying: 'It’s official! Today I took the oath and was sworn in as the Member of Parliament for Chichester. Thank you to everyone who voted for me, it is a huge privilege and honour to be elected to work for everyone in the constituency. I will not let you down!'
