This weekend marks two years since Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine.
As we commemorate with sadness this anniversary, we must also continue in our unwavering support for Ukraine and its brave people as they fight against Vladimir Putin’s regime.
Chichester continues to be a welcoming and safe place for people fleeing the conflict, having stepped up in 2022 and welcomed among the highest number of refugees of any area in the country.
I continue to work with local partners and the Home Office on ensuring those settling in our community are safe and well cared for. This comes of top of the Government’s announcement last week of an extension to the Ukraine visa scheme until September 2026.
All this is part of our long-term commitment to Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s illegal invasion.
Slava Ukraini!
