Gillian, recently visited local hospice, St Wilfrid’s, where she toured their new facility in Bosham and thanked staff for their work over the past two years.
The MP was shown around by the charity’s Chief Executive, Alison Moorey who led Gillian around the facilities on offer including the chapel, gardens, and café. On her tour, the MP spoke with several members of the team and learnt about the huge range of support offered by the charity both on-site and at-home care. As a Minister of State at the Department for Health and Social Care, Gillian spoke at length with staff about a broad range of issues within the sector from recruitment and retention of staff, to funding, as well as the day to day challenges of providing end of life care.
2022 marks the Hospice’s 35th year operating, during that time they have supported over 20,000 patients and their family members, though what is one of the most challenging times in someone’s life.
After her visit the MP described the hospice as ‘a jewel in our crown” and “much loved by people in our whole community” in a video on her Facebook page.
Commenting St Wilfrid’s added, “So pleased to have been able to share the wonderful work of the St Wilfrid's team with our MP Gillian Keegan.”
