Chichester District Council’s wellbeing team are relaunching their alcohol reduction service following the appointment of a new Alcohol Wellbeing Advisor.
The relaunch falls within the month of Alcohol awareness week (15-21 November), an event organised by Alcohol Change UK.
The service is aimed at helping people aged 18 and over, who live, work and study in the Chichester District and who are looking to reduce their alcohol intake. Chichester Wellbeing’s new Alcohol Wellbeing Advisor will be supporting people to reduce their alcohol use and better understand their relationship with alcohol, while helping them to make small but positive changes to improve their overall wellbeing.
The alcohol prevention service is delivered through a blended approach of one-to-one interventions via video, telephone and face-to-face appointments. The aim is to create a realistic and manageable plan to take a fresh look at a client’s drinking habits and to work out how to help them reduce their consumption. The Chichester Wellbeing service offers up to eight sessions of tailored advice, which can be booked at times that are convenient to the client.
“This is a vital service that helps reduce drinking before it becomes a more serious dependency,” says Roy Briscoe, Cabinet Member for Community Services and Culture. “If residents want help with managing their alcohol intake, I’d urge them to contact Chichester Wellbeing and our trained, expert staff will do everything they can to help.”
Chichester Wellbeing can also help those looking to quit smoking. The team are qualified Smoking Cessation Advisors and are able to offer free one-to-one behavioural support, including Nicotine Replacement Therapy to help people quit.
The team also offer a range of other services, including weight loss workshops, with face-to-face appointments beginning to be offered once again.
