Invertebrate monitoring/continuous monitoring on the Ems - from the Environment Agency
Invertebrate samples from the lower Ems in Brook Meadows and at a site downstream of Westbourne Augmentation were collected on 24 May 2021. This sampling will be repeated in the autumn (between September and November).
A fish survey will be conducted during August near Watersmeet House.
We also collect monthly water quality samples from the lower Ems, which measures elements such as dissolved oxygen, orthophosphate, nitrate and ammonia.
We are still planning to deploy the continuous water quality monitors for at least one month during low flows at the end of July or August 2021. We hope to repeat this continuous monitoring deployment at a time of high flow in winter and we continue to speak with Portsmouth Water who have recently implemented their programme of flow monitoring.
