Gillian Keegan, the Member of Parliament for Chichester, has welcomed news this week that £1 million in funding will be coming to Chichester as part of the Government's UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). The announcement follows a successful bid made by Chichester District Council last year.
The Government launched the levelling up programme to fund projects in real demand from local communities, and whilst the final plans are yet to be decided, there are a number of key focus areas being targeted:
- Community Pride – Restoration initiatives targeted at community spaces and neighbourhoods.
- Support for Local Businesses – Targeted support to boost growth and innovation in the local economy.
- People and Skills – Breaking down barriers to employment and equipping local people with new and relevant skills.
Gillian had a few words to offer on the back of the fantastic news:
"I was proud to support the initial bid back in August when it was first put forward, and now that the funding has been given the go-ahead, I can’t wait to see some of these ideas make it off the drawing board.
For any residents keen to follow the latest on this, I will be updating residents on next steps, including when project proposals start to be put forward, over on my Facebook Page and website."
