Gillian had her first ever teaching experience yesterday, with a class of year 10s at Midhurst Rother College. Her lesson was on the not for profit sector of business entitled The New Revolution Social entrepreneurship in the 21st century. Gillian having had 27 years business experience has never worked in not for profit, however, used her experience and knowledge to link to the not for profit sector when talking about business structures and supply chains.
Gillian spoke about the role of charities and some of the 166,000 charities in the UK alone, using local and well know examples in her lesson. She finished her lesson highlighting the impacts that so many not for profit businesses and charities have, and that if they didn't do what they do nothing would change.
Gillian the had a brief meeting with the Principal, Stuart Edwards, who discussed the class and catch up with the news of the school. The MP then took part in a Q&A for the 6th form and Scholar group. They asked important questions about key issues such as Brexit, lowering the voting age and much more. Gillian also got a chance to catch up with a student there who came on a weeks work experience in Westminster.
