Gillian Keegan MP visited the Chichester Post Office this morning to see their recently opened site within Sussex Stationers on North Street in Chichester. Gillian met with the staff and was shown around by the branch manager Heidi and Laura, the external affairs manager for the South of England.
On her visit the Chichester MP learnt about some of the services the Post Office provides, that totals in excess of 750. The new branch is equipped with Self-service kiosks and helpful staff on hand to assist, as well as the traditional staffed service desks. Their is also a new state of the art passport photo machine that also allows customers to give their biometrics and fingerprints. The branch currently serves an estimated 2,000 people a week, although this is probably higher over the Christmas period.
The Post Office also provides almost all banking services for most banks, an important fact with many of our high-street branches now closing as we move online. They currently provide around 75% of business banking needs too. This means people can still access valued services without changing banks or travelling to further afield branches.
Gillian Keegan said: “It was great to meet the team at Chichester Post Office, they provide a valuable service to the local community. I am grateful for their hard work and wish them every success during this busy period.”
