Gillian Keegan MP for Chichester sang outside the Palace of Westminster to support Singing for Syrians. She was joined by several other MPs and year 6 pupils St Mathew's School.
Now in its third year, Singing for Syrians raises money for those most affected by the ongoing crisis in the region, encouraging people to sing together in an expression of solidarity against extremism and terror. Singing for Syrians’ success lies in its simplicity. Local organisations, such as schools and Churches, can get involved in any way they like; whether it’s organising their own event or just passing a bucket around. Last year there were over 100 Singing for Syrians events, which raised over £140,000 for worthy causes in the region. Money has gone towards paying the salaries of doctors in Aleppo, establishing a nursery in Idlib, and funding a prosthetic limb clinic on the Turkish border.
Gillian will be singing again on the 12th December at St Margaret’s Church, Westminster - details can be found on: www.singingforsyrians.com.
