Gillian Keegan backs the Chichester District Council's 'Against Litter' Campaign.
This year, our Against Litter campaign aims to bring everyone together in the fight against the crime of littering. The campaign will focus on urging residents, businesses and local communities to get involved by becoming litter aware and taking a pride in their area.
This is a concentrated effort and will involve a number of different methods. We want to engage with local communities and empower them to take positive, preventative action, as well as encouraging local businesses to get involved.
As part of this you can Adopt an Area. Gillian has adopted the area outside her constituency office in central Chichester. The council are encouraging local residents, community groups, schools and businesses to join in and also Adopt an Area. For more information: https://www.chichester.gov.uk/adoptanarea
Gillian Keegan MP said: "I think this is a great initiative being led by Chichester District Council. We live in one of the most beautiful areas in the country and we want to keep it that way. We've got a great community spirit within our district and this is evident through the work that is already being carried out by local community groups and individuals. We want to build on this and encourage even more people to get behind this important campaign. I have already adopted an area and will be supporting the campaign as it moves forward."
Tony Dignum, Leader of the Chichester District Council said: "My wife and I are really proud to 'adopt an area' within the Chichester District and we would like to encourage as many people as possible to support this important campaign. We all appreciate how beautiful our district is and so it is important that we all play our part, from reporting extensive littering or dog fouling issues, through to picking up litter when we see it and putting it in a bin. Many groups and individuals are already doing this and so we also want to thank them for the role they are already playing in protecting our beautiful district and build upon their fantastic work."
