The sun was shining for a lovely day's campaigning in the villages of Plaistow, Loxwood and Ifold. As well as knocking on doors and meeting local residents we met the group of volunteers that run the Wey and Arun canal trust and admired the new bridge that carries Loxwood High St across the canal. Two canal boats carried passengers back and forth, one a party celebrating by hosting a 40th birthday lunch.
I had the chance to talk to the Chair of Govenors at Loxwood primary school who explained the pressures of school funding and how a new scheme to provide primary school children with breakfast could be introduced. I look forward to visiting the school in the near future.
Next was a visit to the famous Sun Inn in Plaistow where I met the groups campaigning against the industrial scale development of nearby Crouchlands farm and plane noise from Gatwick.
A public meeting was held in the evening which was well attended and many topics were discussed during a question and answer session.
It was a great day made even more special as I was joined by some family members as well as lots of volunteers from the area.
