Chichester MP attends a Women and Work APPG dinner hosted by Natwest bank. Gillian in her role as the Co-Chair of the APPG welcomed parliamentarians in attendance and thanked the bank for their support. Natwest has the ambition to be the number one bank of choice for women in business, and is committed to help create an additional 65,000 new female led businesses by 2025. The bank recently launched the Back Her Business programme, aimed at enabling women to prepare for crowdfunding.
The dinner discussions were around the Rose Review that was launched in March 2019 by Alison Rose, NatWest Deputy CEO, at the request of the government. The review sets out to identify the disparity between male and female entrepreneurs when starting and scaling businesses, and the barriers facing women. It found only 1 in 3entrepreneurs are women and a gender gap equivalent to over 1 million fewer female entrepreneurs in the UK.
