Trustees and fundraisers for St Wilfrid’s Hospice took part in a walk along the Chichester Canal stretch of the Sussex Hospices Trail on Saturday (October 3).
People have been invited to join Friends of Sussex Hospices by getting a team together to walk one stretch of the trail to mark the third year of the route and raise money to support Sussex hospices.
Chichester MP Gillian Keegan joined Soline Jerram, chairman of trustees for St Wilfrid’s, trustee Michael Bevis and community fundraising manager Alex Burch for the ten-mile route between Chichester and Barnham.
Mrs Keegan said: “Hospices provide care and comfort to patients and families during the most difficult time in their lives.
We are very lucky, right across Sussex, to have so many brilliant hospices with such experienced, caring and dedicated staff.
“As charities, they rely on our support to stay open, especially at the moment with the pandemic preventing much of their usual fundraising.
“I encourage anyone who can to take on a sponsored walk or donate themselves to support this incredible network of care.”
Soline Jerram, St Wilfrid’s Hospice chairman of trustees, said: “On behalf of St Wilfrid’s Hospice we were honoured to be joined by Gillian, our local MP for the hospice trail walk.
“We hope our walk encourages others to get active and help raise vital awareness and funds for the many hundreds of patients and families we are proud to look after.”
