Tackling Climate Change

Gillian is passionate about the environment and tackling climate change. She has been working to promote change on a local, national and global scale.

Locally Gillian has been working with the authorities, organisations, campaign groups and businesses to work on getting the UK carbon neutral by 2050.

Gillian is a member of the Conservative Environment Network; a forum for conservatives who support conservation and decarbonisation. Before taking up her Government role she also sat as the Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for UN Sustainable Goals, since 2017 where representatives from all parties work towards 17 international goals, many of which work to improve the global environment:

Goal 7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all

Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

Goal 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources

Goal 15: Sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, halt biodiversity loss
